In these works, the ibis is placed against quiet, cool-toned landscapes of abstracted, linear tree forms. The contrast between vibrant red and soft bluish backgrounds creates tension and, at the same time, a sense of calm.

For me, the ibis symbolizes mindfulness and individuality. It stands alert, yet fully within itself – a quiet guardian in a noisy world. Its color does not blend into its surroundings, but asserts itself confidently. This tension between belonging and otherness is central to my work, making the Scarlet Ibis Series a reflection on stillness, awareness, and the courage to remain distinct.
