In this painting, I placed a red bird – inspired by the scarlet ibis – at the center of a quiet, cool-toned forest made of abstracted, linear tree forms. The contrast between the vibrant red and the soft bluish background is intentional: it creates tension, but also a sense of calm.

I’m fascinated by the idea of pausing – a moment between movement and stillness. The bird stands alert, its eyes open, yet it remains entirely within itself. For me, it symbolizes mindfulness, presence, and an awareness of one’s inner space – a quiet guardian in a world that is often noisy.

At the same time, the bird represents individuality. Its color doesn’t blend into its surroundings, and yet it stands firmly and confidently. This tension between otherness and belonging is a central theme in my work.
